Society, Design and Technology is an interdisciplinary platform for research, creation, and collaboration, led by Martín Tironi, aimed at critically exploring the social and environmental implications of design and technologies in contemporary society.

About

Social life today is increasingly mediated by digital technologies and, more decisively than ever, by artificial intelligence (AI) systems, which introduce profound transformations in the relationships between individuals, collectives, and the environment.

AI not only automates processes or amplifies human capacities, but also reorganizes forms of knowledge, governance, and coexistence. These transformations are grounded in the Earth’s metabolism and affect ecosystems, making AI a force that simultaneously reshapes both the social and the planetary.

Projects developed within the SDT framework seek to explore the planetary implications of these technological disruptions, as well as to experiment with inventive methods that open up discussion about their impacts and possibilities. The platform also aims to foster spaces for reflection, research, creation, and collaboration among scholars from Chile, Latin America, and other regions of the world who are committed to a critical examination of the articulation between society, design, and digital technologies.
