This online seminar will occur on Thursday 11 Novembre at 12:00 pm (Chilean time) \/ 16:00 pm (Swedish time). In this session entitled \u201cUn\/Making Matters, Practices and Imaginaries\u201d, Kristina Lindstr\u00f6m and \u00c5sa St\u00e5hl will present their ongoing work in the Un\/Making Studio, that builds on an understanding of design as always being both creative and destructive.\u00a0During the presentation they will share a series of projects that have responded to and engaged with emerging, ongoing, and anticipated processes of un\/making,\u00a0such as attempts to clean polluted soil in postindustrial landscapes with the help of plants, proposals to ban plastic disposable products and reports on ongoing and anticipated biodiversity loss. Based on their practice-based research they will discuss three different orientations of un\/making: un\/making in the aftermath of design, un\/making preferable things, and un\/making futures.<\/p>\n
\u00c5sa St\u00e5hl, is a senior lecturer in design at Linnaeus University, V\u00e4xj\u00f6, Sweden. Kristina Lindstr\u00f6m is a senior lecturer in design at the School of Arts and Communication at Malm\u00f6 University, Sweden. In 2014 they defended their collaborative PhD thesis, across the disciplines of Media and Communication Studies and Interaction Design at Malm\u00f6 University. Since then, they have done a joint postdoc at Ume\u00e5 Institute of Design, where they were part of the artistic research project HYBRID MATTERs in which they explored\u00a0past present and future imaginaries of plastics.\u00a0St\u00e5hl and Lindstr\u00f6m currently run the Un\/Making Studio with the aim of exploring alternatives to progressivist and anthropocentric ways of thinking and making within design. Their work has its base in participatory and speculative design in combination with feminist technoscience.<\/p>\n
Commentator: Simon\u00e9 Malacchini, is designer from Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile, Master in Material and Visual Culture from UCL (London, UK). Academic of Design at Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Universidad de Chile. Her research is related to graphic design, material and visual culture, and contemporary art. Currently, she represents Chile in the Latin American Graphic Culture Network.<\/p>\n
